Management Systems
Today’s libraries are faced with the innumerable challenges posed
by an information universe on rapid expansion. The increasing
expectations and the users’ needs to access faster and easier the
relevant information is in a constant relation to the institutional
demand for the increasing of operational efficiency. The library
integrated systems enable all types of libraries with accessible
instruments and the necessary assistance needed in the working flow in
order to cope with personal and institutional demands both in present
and in future times. The integrated system can be configured in order to
meet every type of library policy or procedure thus allowing the
creation of a sole working flow.

- Framework
for creating a culture of learning and knowledge sharing in libraries
and information services
The performance of an
organization, including an infodocumentary structure such as a library
or an information service, depends largely on its organizational
culture, on the values it promotes. The competition on the market of
information transfer has made libraries and information services
orientate towards managerial processes aimed at the most important
resources nowadays – the knowledge resources. Such a process is the
knowledge management, and an essential role in its implementation in an
institution has the organizational culture. A culture that supports
learning and knowledge sharing supports organizations for such an
approach and also helps them obtain performance and enjoy success in
their environment. The article presents elements of a framework for
creating a culture of learning and knowledge sharing in the
infodocumentary structures. These elements were identified through a
research on knowledge management in Romanian academic libraries which
also had as a result the development of a model for the implementation
of this process in the infodocumentary structures.

Current Context and Possible Solutions
The
option for another solution for the Romanian Librarianship and
Information Science Studies has a systemic and individual advantage at
the same time. In a society where the legislation lacks seriously about
the professional training, where the political decision goes above the
objective criteria of hiring, a distance training imposes as an
alternative solution (for those who are in the system to improve their
skills, and those who wish a career as library specialists to have the
opportunity to choose the proper type of learning).
The necessity to experience a teaching formula for distance learning
librarianship specialization is not only a need related to the labor
market but rather a result of pragmatic transformation of
info-documentation structures in an electronic communication era. The
"d“gital" ”ecomes the attribute of everyday task-communication, image
creation, collection preservation, and learning.
We thought it would be very useful to propose a model of teaching,
learning and assessment for distance higher librarianship tested on
www.oll.ro, Open learning library platform to analyze the impact on
students, and especially to test the effectiveness of teaching and
assessing knowledge from distance. We set a rigorous approach that
reflects the problems facing the Romanian LIS education system and
emphasizes the optimal strategies that need to be implemented. The
benefits of such an approach can and classified as: innovation in
education, communicative facilities, and effective strategies for
teaching library science.

Information literacy represents a determining factor in the
development of the information society because a society based on
lifelong training cannot be imagined without an adequate information
literacy. In this sense, it becomes the primordial condition of the
professionalism and success of the future specialist in any domain. This
is why, simultaneously to his professional training, a student must
acquire habits of scientific information and his own experience related
to scientific information. Information literacy skills constitute the
key factor in lifelong learning, being the first step on the road
towards the realization of the educational goals. In the present paper,
we aim to highlight the primordial role played by information literacy
in the education of any individual in the society and also the help it
provides to academics in the development of their didactic skills.

Romanian Small Convents in Mount Athos
The study brings into question a less researched aspect in the
Romanian and foreign history in the past 20 years, namely, cells and
Romanian huts set up on Mount Athos in the 19th century with hermitages
founded there also by Romanian monks. This material presents aspects of
religious and administrative life, and their daily lives on Mount Athos
in Greece, and relations between communities of Romanian monks from
there and Greek monks from Mount Athos during the time, from its
establishment – 19th century to the present. The information is based on
research and documents in the deposits of the National Archives of
Romania and those of the Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs.
