Another aspect covered by the public library is related to social cohesion, the area of the institution becoming a meeting place and a community development center. Cultural identity and local identity are problems with a significant impact on the community and which need to be publicized by the public library, and imagination and creativity increase the interest of the public for cultural activities. Niculina Vârgolici, Ioana Vasiloiu - Constantin Mavrocordat - Romanian Culture Promotor

For a long time the Phanariot age was considered a dark era and the reforming Prince Constantin Mavrocordat's modernizing activity almost ignored. The signification of the Phanariot Prince's reform policy has to be revalued in the European and Romanian context of the 18th century. The enlighted Prince would reform the administration, justice, fiscal system and education setting up unexistent institutions at that time in Romanian Countries. Both in history and especially in culture, his role as a reformer is undisputable. His efforts in modernizing the Romanian society carried out in a document published in "Mercure de France", 1742 with a suggestive title as Constitution. His reigns signified a renovating period of the political, social, administration and enlightment ideas.

Alternative Readings

Brînduşa Nicolaescu - Aesthetic, Ethical and Empirical Readings: Revisiting Dystopian Fiction (I)

Based on recent research in literary criticism, primarily a preoccupation for the literary response among the readers (students) in the academic milieu, this article attempts to propose different perspectives and discuss various levels of interpretation of dystopian fiction - going beyond the clichés that for instance have lead throughout the years to its confusion with the science fiction genre - reclaiming an increasing need for a specialized bibliography. We contend these literary works entail peculiar ethical considerations and ultimately they require a specific methodology close to a psychonarratological approach, namely empirical.
